The Story

12-24” tall x 18-24” wide. A tough and versatile North American native selection, Low Scape® Mound Chokeberry (Aronia) combines all your favorite characteristics of black chokeberry in a low-growing, mounding shrub. Makes a no-fuss groundcover that is excellent for edging beds or stabilizing slopes. Plant in masses among wildlife plantings and enjoy watching birds as they flock to feast on the late summer fruits. Flowers attract a diversity of bee pollinators. Chokeberry fruits are also used to make jams and jellies. Fruits are tart early in the season and take on a sweeter flavor toward autumn. Plants tolerate some of the worst growing conditions, from salt to high heat and drought, to low-lying wet areas. Water well the first season to establish a healthy root system, after which plants will tolerate dry spells.
