The Story

‘Blue Glitter’ Sea Holly (Eryngium planum 'Blue Glitter') brings a unique look to gardens and meadowscapes. A European bred plant for the cut flower trade, ‘Blue Holly’ features prolific blooms, and it is the winner of the Fleuroselect Gold Medal (2007), awarded to perennial cultivars that surpass existing varieties in terms of innovation and beauty. The native range of Eryngium planum includes central and southeastern Europe and central Asia. This is one of the hardiest species and it has proven to be a reliable, long-lived perennial. Eryngium have deep tap roots, and prefer not to be transplanted once they’re established. Thanks to its spiky texture, Eryngium is known for its deer and rabbit resistance. The plants look beautiful left standing in winter.
